Project Overview:
For the Philadelphia Flyers Star Wars Theme Night, I was tasked with designing and animating a series of motion graphic templates to be used in-game during the event. These templates were specifically created to showcase the starting lineup and display the game score, all while incorporating the iconic Star Wars theme. The project involved collaboration with Lucasfilm to ensure full compliance with their brand guidelines and obtain approval for all assets created.
As the senior designer, I was responsible for conceptualizing, illustrating, and animating all assets.
Concept & Asset Creation:
researched Star Wars iconography and integrated it with the Flyers’ branding to create custom vector assets in Adobe Illustrator.
Animation & Templates:
In Adobe After Effects, I developed animated motion graphics templates for the starting lineup and game score, using Star Wars-inspired transitions like flying ships and explosions.
Collaboration & Compliance:
I worked closely with Lucasfilm to ensure all designs met their brand guidelines and obtained necessary approvals before finalizing the assets.
Implementation:
After receiving approvals from the marketing and social media teams, I provided the video production and game day experience teams with templates and design assets, ensuring they had everything needed to seamlessly integrate the visuals into their final deliverables. This collaboration was key to creating a cohesive in-game and digital experience across multiple platforms.
Outcome:
The Star Wars Theme Night was a huge success, with the motion graphics receiving praise for their seamless integration into the event’s atmosphere. The starting lineup and score templates enhanced the in-game experience, adding an extra layer of excitement and immersion for fans. The designs not only captured the essence of Star Wars but also elevated the overall fan experience during the game.
